Do I need a partner?

No! We rotate partners throughout class so everyone dances. The majority of people come to West Coast Swing in Pittsburgh by themselves.

What skill level do I need?

None at all. Our beginner classes start from scratch every week. Most people who join have never danced before.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes you can move in. Avoid shoes that grip the floor, smooth-soled shoes or dance shoes work best. Jeans and a t-shirt are perfectly fine.

What age range comes to classes?

Our dancers range from their 20s to their 60s and beyond. West Coast Swing is truly for all ages, that's one of the things that makes the Pittsburgh community so special.

Where are classes held?

Monday classes are at the Blueberry Hill Park Activity Center in Sewickley (1604 Blaine's Way) — a beautiful ballroom floor, minutes from Wexford, Franklin Park, and the North Hills. The Wednesday beginner course runs at Rooted in Movement Ballroom & Wellness Studio in Cranberry Township (8001 Rowan Rd, Suite 200).

How much does it cost?

Monday night is a flat $15 that covers everything — the beginner lesson, the intermediate class, and the social dance. The 4-week Wednesday beginner course in Cranberry is $20 per week. Special offers and free learning opportunities go out to our email list first — sign up on any page.

Is there a religious component?

No. Our venues are community and studio spaces chosen for their great dance floors; there is no religious aspect to any of our classes or events.

What happens after the beginner program?

After the beginner course or your first few Monday lessons, most dancers continue with Monday night classes and social dancing. You'll also have opportunities for workshops, events, and connecting with the broader West Coast Swing community.
